I have looked all over the Internet and cannot find the answer to two questions:
Why did skateboard companies change the hole pattern for trucks on decks back in the early 1990s?
When did skateboard manufacturers switch to heat transfer graphics?

Deck Warp, Shipping...

I have quite a few collectable boards (mostly NOS Powell!) I need to relocate from New Mexico to Alaska after I finish grad school this summer (spent way too much time on Ebay here). I'm concerned about these decks possibly warping in the intense desert heat as I drive them back in my truck, even with the screen windows open on my cap. Alternatively, I also worry about them warping while on a boat for 6 days from Seattle to Anchorage, should I choose not to drive through Canada.

If I stack some of these together and box well, will the weight/insulation help prevent warp? Do I need to wrap each one in plastic? I could ship them separately but this will cost a fortune and, if they ended up sitting in a cargo can for 24 hours in the NM heat, they could still get damaged anyway! Apparently it is quite common for decks to warp during shipping, as the local skate shop attests. Hence, my concern.

I realize that this may sound a bit neurotic, but I am really trying to get these things back safely.

Anyone here have experience in this dept., advice etc? What is the best way to transport these gems and avoid warp??

Older re-issues wish list

I am wondering, now that the bones brigade decks with the
wheel wells are so popular, will Powell re-issue some of the older decks as
well? I would love to see them do the britelite or even a beamer run! I hope to
see more of the older decks done in the original style. Some I would like to
see are ones I had as a kid like—purple dip britelite skull and sword snub nose,
orange beamer, red-orange Allan Gelfand tank and my favorite light blue vato
rat deck. I can wish I guess lol, so what’s the decks you would like to see
re-issued? At 48 I still ride almost every day!

Vallely Elephant Reissue

I have managed to procure a couple of the Vallely Elephant decks from 2011 in the red color way. I noticed on both of them, there seems to be some discoloration/fading around the edges where the red is much darker. However, there is no "C" stamp on the deck or nothing else to indicate that these are defective. No warp either. It seems to only be on the red decks, none of my others have this problem.

Anyone else notice this? Thoughts?

Here is my wet noodle Mullen flexing. Not sure if the video captures it or not. For comparison's sake, I did the same thing on a 8" mini logo. I'm 6'2", 185.

My sock kind of hides the tail flex; that was tough to capture. The middle flex compared to the mini logo (which doesn't flex at all) is the most telling.

Anyone seen the newest Thrasher mag (May issue) & the Powell Peralta ad inside? Looks like a pretty killer graphic on a board...or not?
