Roller Derby + : Is the Roller derby performance combined with a visco elastic horseshoe shaped D30 foam for a 40% higher impact absorption. Custom tailored for the ladies in a slim, pre-shaped design with an anti slip fit. New removable cap design just like the standard Roller Derby pads.
is a smart material with high shock absorbing properties. In standard conditions, the molecules within the technology flow freely allowing the material to remain soft sand flexible, but on impact, they lock together to absorb impact energy and reduce the force transmitted. The molecules instantly return to their flexible state. The material is is strain rate sensitive meaning the stronger the impact the more the molecules react offering better protection.

- I am a fan! Review by Sassy
- I needed new knee pads after a couple of seasons on my custom Pro-Design. I looked into what was available and decided to not so patiently wait for these TSG Roller Derby knee pad + with D30. If you are not familiar with D30 I encourage you to Google it and watch a few YouTube videos. This material is amazing (composed of freely moving molecules that instantly harden and absorb force transmission upon impact) and I was excited to have a form fitting pad with additional protection.
The first thing I noticed about these knee pads is the sizing is a bit off. If you are on the lower end of a size I encourage you to order a size down. I measure for a large but the mediums fit perfectly. Because of the pull on design and the additional materials used to prevent slippage these knee pads are not quick to put on or remove. This doesn’t bother me, as I like taking me time putting on my gear and the peace of mind knowing it isn’t going to shift and slip like other knee pads. The profile of this knee pad is MUCH smaller than other brands, but the addition on d30 keeps your knees safe.
I’ve taken small and hard falls with this knee pad. While you do still feel an impact I did not find it to be greater than other knee pads I’ve had (Pro-Design, Destroyer, TSG Force III) and it definitely out performs the other slim knee pad out on the market from a competing company. Falls would be more comfortable if there was a slim lining added to the inside of the knee cap. Currently you can see the orange D30 material.
I am not sure on the durability on this product. Everything seems well made, but I’ve only had them about a month. I do have some concerns about the Velcro snagging the neoprene sleeve directly below the Velcro, but that doesn’t seem like enough of a reason to not purchase this knee pad. I am unclear on how long the D30 material continues to perform to absorb impact energy.
Pros: use of D30 material, slim profile, no slippage
Cons: unknown durability, no internal knee cap lining, Velcro snags, time consuming to put on
