Latest from the Bones Brigade

Bones Brigade fans,

There's been a lot going on since the release late last year of Bones Brigade: An Autobiography. Heading into a busy summer, we just wanted to give you a heads-up about what's been happening, what's coming down the pipe, and how you can keep tabs on it all.

In February at the 15th Annual TWS Awards ceremony, Tommy Guerrero won the magazine's Legend award, inviting "every dirty street skater" onstage to share the honor. Here's the video of that. And here's the retrospective edit shown at the same party, with tons of classic footage and some perspective on Tommy's living legacy from Lance Mountain, Doug Smith, Jim Thiebaud, and many others.

Tommy just got back from a skate/music/art residency in Marseille, France, and is now packing his bags for Japan with his BLKTOP bandmates, Ray Barbee, Chuck Treece, and Matt Rodriguez.

Also in February, Caballero won the masters division at the Vans Bowl-A-Rama in Wellington, New Zealand, following up with a second-place finish at Bondi Beach.

Cab's now gearing up to defend his masters title at the 9th Annual Vans Pool Party, presented by Pro-Tec. Last year, in a Bones Brigade takeover, Caballero, Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, and Mike McGill placed first through fourth, respectively. Pool Party tickets are tough to come by, but on May 11 you can watch the live stream right here.

Unfortunately, Hawk's busy travel schedule prevents him from skating the Pool Party this time around because he is including a philanthropic trip to Ethiopia to check in with the good people at Charity Water. Also keep your eye out for an extensive interview with Hawk in the next issue of Juice, as the magazine continues its Bones Brigade chronicles.

Also this summer, Hawk and Rodney Mullen are heading to the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History in Washington, DC, for Innoskate, a celebration of innovation in skateboarding. The event runs June 21-22 and is part of IASC's 10-year anniversary of Go Skateboarding Day in collaboration with the Smithsonian's Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation. Bones Brigade: An Autobiography is scheduled to be shown at the Smithsonian as a highlight of the event.

That same weekend, Caballero, Mountain, and McGill are in the lineup to ride the Skate Bowl Legends contest at the Dew Tour Beach Championships in Ocean City, Maryland.

In the meantime, you can get more connected to the Bones Brigade via social media. Check out our Facebook page for everything from classic photos to our reissue decks, now shipping in their second colorway. You can also post Bones Brigade-related photos on Instagram with the #bonesbrigade hashtag. The collection has more than 12,000 pics so far and it's growing by the day.

We also recently updated the Bones Brigade site, where you can share a testimonial with your thoughts on the team and the movie. Another favorite is The Search for Animal Chin, which we're still giving away. Get your free download of the movie here, and spread the word. It's classic. Just like the Bones Brigade.

Now go have fun skating!
