    Powell Peralta Steadham Skull & Spade Skateboard Deck Purp/Aqua Reissue - 10 x 30.125

LONG 4 - 2.5" old school truck hole pattern

    About the Steadham Spade Artwork:

Immediately after his debut pro contest at Pipeline, Steadham placed second at the Eagle Rock ramp contest, then fourth at Nebraska's Midwest Melee. When Stacy and George finally gave him a model in 1985, the Stecyk-drawn Rasta-skull graphic and sidecut shape helped propel Steadham's signature deck toward the top of the company's bestsellers at the time. Near the end of 1985, with a decision he says he now regrets, Steadham quit the Bones Brigade.

  12. Powell Peralta OG Rat Bones Skateboard Deck Olive Green - 10 x 30

Powell Peralta OG Rat Bones Skateboard Deck Olive Green - 10 x 30

LONG 4 - 2.5" old school truck hole pattern

About the Vato Rat Bones Artwork:

The Vato Rat was created by artist Craig Stecyk. Coming from the Santa Monica Dogtown "Z-Boy" surf-skate scene of the 1970's, Stecyk was surrounded by Hispanic gang culture and graffiti. At the time he was airbrushing a lot of Zephyr surfboards and blended that influence into his work. The Vato Rat was one of the many symbols he used to decorate surfboards and generally mark territory at local surf spots. In 1983 Stacy Peralta decided to bring the Vato Rat back as a Powell-Peralta graphic. They called it "Rat Bones" and it was used in advertising, on decks, stickers and T-shirts.

  25. Powell Peralta Steve Saiz Totem Pink Skateboard Deck - 10 x 30.81

Powell Peralta Steve Saiz Totem Pink Skateboard Deck - 10 x 30.81

In the late 1980's, Powell Peralta had an established vert team that was maxed out with the likes of Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Mike McGill and Lance Mountain. In an effort to expand the companies pro roster to include the growing "Street-Style" market, they began adding new "street" pros. After Tommy Guerrero it was Mike Vallely, then Ray Barbee. The fourth Powell-Peralta Street pro to receive a deck model was Long Beach local, Steve Saiz. His Native American "totem pole" graphic was the second illustrated by newly acquired artist Sean Cliver in 1989. Saiz continued to skate for Powell-Peralta into the early 1990's until his knee unfortunately gave out.

  27. Powell Peralta GeeGah Ripper Maroon Skateboard Deck - 9.75 x 30

Powell Peralta GeeGah Ripper Maroon Skateboard Deck - 9.75 x 30

In 1986 jump ramps were all the rage. Easy to build, portable and fun to launch off of. Unfortunately, decks were snapping left and right. Powell-Peralta deck returns were so high the company sought ways to make decks stronger and more resistant to jump breaks. One solution was Bonite construction. Another was the "Gee-Gaw" shape which had bumps to reinforce the break zone area. Why "Gee-Gaw?" Ask Chris Iverson. This shape was also used for the Skull & Sword graphic. They were originally produced between 1987 and 1988.

    About the Ripper Artwork:

Arguably the most iconic skateboard graphic of all time, "The Ripper" was illustrated in 1983 by legendary Powell-Peralta artist V.C. Johnson. Originally the graphic was used as a "Bones Sold Here" dealer window sticker. Next, the artwork found it's way onto t-shirts and eventually decks. The Ripper graphic has stood the test of time and has been a staple of the Powell-Peralta line for over 30 years.

Powell Peralta Ray Rodriguez OG Skull and Sword Skateboard Deck Yellow - 10 x 30

LONG 4 - 2.5" old school truck hole pattern

About the Skull and Sword Artwork:

The Rodriguez "Skull & Sword" deck was the first pro signature deck graphic produced by Powell-Peralta. The graphic was conceived by Ray and Illustrated by V.C. Johnson with art direction from George Powell in 1979.

Initially released in two distinctly different shapes; a 10" x 30" "Widetail" version and a 10" x 28.5" "Snub Nose,” it came in "Brite-Lite" Dayglo yellow, orange, purple and green. In years to follow, it was made in various different colors and a Powell-Peralta logo was added. In 1983 Ray's signature was removed and replaced with a Powell-Peralta script logo. The graphic was also used for T-shirts and stickers.

Powell Peralta Caballero Ban This Skateboard Deck Mint Reissue - 9.265 x 32

    SHORT 4 TRUCK HOLE PATTERN

About the Cab Ban This Dragon Artwork:

In 1988 Powell-Peralta ran an "Artist Wanted" advertisement in TWS and Thrasher. The contest "winner" would get a job in the Powell-Peralta art department in Santa Barbara. The artist selected was Sean Cliver, mainly because his illustration style closely resembled VCJ's. Cliver's first deck design, the Barbee Ragdoll, was a departure from the traditional VCJ look, but when it came time to update the Caballero dragon, Sean emulated the master. At some point later, someone dubbed the graphic Cab "Ban This" Dragon since it was prominently featured in that video (think slow-motion sequence).

  30. Powell Peralta Welinder Classic Skateboard Deck Natural - 9.62 x 29.75

Powell Peralta Welinder Classic Skateboard Deck Natural - 9.62 x 29.75

    About The Nordic Skull artwork:

The Per Welinder Viking Skull was illustrated by V.C. Johnson in 1984. The fanged fantasy graphic was meant to reflect Per's Swedish origins. It was initially assigned to his freestyle model without the rock texture background, which was added in an updated version in 1986. In 1987 the new full-length graphic was adapted for a street model as Per began performing freestyle / street demos. The eighth century Runic stone lettering spells out Per's name as well as the background quote, "Search and strive, push beyond with strength, yours not theirs, that is the key." Something Per came up with. The graphic was also used for T-shirts and stickers.

Powell Peralta Pro Andy Anderson Heron 7-Ply Maple Skateboard Deck - 9.13 x 32.8

“There are so many within the skateboarding world who look at skating as a religion which must be practiced to exacting and specific standards; you must conform and ride this type of terrain, you must conform and do these types of tricks, you must not mix this style with that style, you must look this way or else etc. And then once in a while a skater like Andy comes along who doesn’t fit into this fanatical mold, a skater who is such an outsider himself that he doesn’t even fit into skateboarding. He doesn’t fit in because he’s not following it’s false mandates. What Andy is doing is living the creed of what a skateboarder is supposed to be. He’s not conforming nor is he looking for acceptance from conforming, and with that he’s accepting the grief and exclusion that comes with being a true outsider. That is what a real skateboarder is.” -Stacy Peralta

  37. Powell Peralta Bucky Lasek Stadium Skateboard Deck Reissue - 10 x 31.5

Powell Peralta Bucky Lasek Stadium Skateboard Deck Reissue - 10 x 31.5

    TRUCK HOLE PATTERN: DOUBLE-DRILLED LONG 4 (2.5")

An east coast skateboarding wonder at a young age—there’s a story out there that Bucky started skateboarding after his bicycle was stolen, sure, but really there was a shop owner in Baltimore named Andy who liked Bucky, flowed him product, and generally made skateboarding affordable for him. He entered amateur contests and did well. His profile rose to a point where in 1989 Tony Hawk sent him a game changing invite to visit him in SoCal.

The 1990 release of what has become known as Bucky’s STADIUM model was one of the graphics designed entirely by Sean Cliver during his three years at Powell Peralta. The back-story behind the unusual baseball-themed graphic has little to do with Bucky’s interest in, or his ability to actually play baseball.

Not only was Bucky known for being a nice, likable guy, Sean also knew he was from Baltimore. At the time the Baltimore Orioles had gone through a resurgence because their new stadium (Camden Yards) was being constructed while Cal Ripken, Jr., was surging in his effort to play more baseball games consecutively (2632 eventually) than any human thought possible. Sean saw this as an opportunity for Bucky Lasek, the nice guy that people liked, to have a board graphic with lots of those people he liked on his board. BOOM!
