  • Stinky pantyhose!

    ;-)
  • @mudslingerskates is that a Creature blanks?
  • I saw that orange one wake and I think I read that was repro someone did some years back. Anyway the orange did spark my brain @myren and I did a shit load of searching and basically came up with only one or maybe two McGill decks ever that have been done in orange. The one I found for sure is on eBay right now and not a bottle nose... So longest story told orange has me thinking.

Oh skatepaige blanks are what's being used.
  • @mudslingerskates
Can you post pictures once you start cutting the deck? I have always wanted to buy a skatepaige blank and create a deck, but I don't own many tools, or have the room for them. I would like to see what tools you use.
  • Jigsaw and sandpaper I'm tipping

mudslingerskates What did you use for the template?

I have an idea how to get a paper template by using the image I posted earlier from the catalog.
  • I voted orange as well.
  • First off this cut is being done by my buddy max in Texas, not that I haven't made plenty of home brews with skatepaige blanks but I did not have the OG to trace for this build and I needed a little help from my friends to find the template.

@mr_scary an OG fullsize Mcgill. My buddy Max reached out via WLSC on FB and a fried of his named Seth traced his OG for the template. Make no mistake as soon as this deck is in my hands I will be making a template so that I can make McGill homebrew decks for the rest of my life if need be.

@kyle you will need a jigsaw, I would suggest a cordless one. I have two of them one that doesn't have a removable battery and it cuts nice and slow for those tight curved cuts and one with a removable battery that has the horsepower to do those long straight cuts with no issues. You will also need a router and a few bits to get those rails nice and round. Last but not least get yourself a palm sander with some course and fine sandpaper squares. We are in the middle of moving right this minute and all my stuff is at the new house, I can post pictures of the gear tomorrow if you like.

For the skatepaige blanks I always get them predrilled they don't charge any extra for that and to be honest its a pain in the ass to line up and drill the truck holes by yourself. The website only offers a few options but if you call them they will drill them however you want.

There are quite a few guys on here that have done a bunch of these themselves... seems like @chris has spoken up about doing homebrews with skatepaige blanks and I know for a fact the @castapolymer has done some. With a steady hand, some patience and about $400 in tools you can recreate any shaped skateboard you want. Helps to have some friends with the OG decks your wanting to recreate for the template part.

    mudslingerskates Nice man.
I tried using the photo and cropping it, then sizing it to specs.

It would work perfect, but the image is not perfect. it's twisted a little.
with a little work in Adobe CS5 I think I can get a perfect template, and resize the deck if desirable.
Probably choose the side that look best, split in the middle and mirror that.
Well I went ahead did it. the actual size of the image is 10.056" x 30.75" it should be printable but will require spanning.
also makes a nice weird graphic

Image was too big, so I'll just link to it.

  • awesome, what a great idea and hey I think that graphic is bad ass.
  • @kyle these are the tools I use. The Ryobi is a new addition replacing my old corded jigsaw.

  • I knew you worked out Muddy....that's why you skate shirtless lol
  • @mudslingerskates
    Thanks for the info.
Does your friend Max make custom decks for anyone?
  • @kyle yes he does, for $55 USD he will shape, sand, stain and ship the finished product to your door. Good dude and he does great work, he knows a lot of people so if your looking for a certain shape to recreate he can most likely find a template to make it happen. Check him out on FB .. Allskate Saxon. You will find him in the WLSC group as well.
  • I just bought this blank from SoCal: http://socalskateshop.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=63536

It amazes me that a skate shop can offer a variety of shaped decks, with modern concave, in a variety of colors, yet a huge company like skateone can't.
  • Nice shape.
  • Hey all. If you could do the next series of Bones Brigade decks, which Hawk, McGill, Mountain, Cab, Mullen, Guerrero would you make? They don't have to be the same era. Show me your ultimate line!
  • HAWK - Claw
McGill - everyone (including me) Bottlenose
    Mountain - Crest
Cab - full size Dragon, black dip
    Guerrero - Iron Gate
    Mullen - Whatever!

^Ditto (and pleaaaase no newschool funked up colors)
  • edited January 2016
McGill full sized snakeskin not bottlenose. Same shape as done in 5th series but full sized. Fluro pink with purple snakeskin and blue winged ripper. Either bb series or standard reissue seen as how Mike is part of the team still.

Hawk medallion full size black dip.

Whatever you make make them full sized boards not minis.

Yes, what Paul said, "Please..." all FULL SIZE! Thanks!

Above all, please stick to OG shapes and colors. It's very offputting to almost get your dream deck and have it like the green snakeshin McGill with darker than it should be green and weird pink. Or the non-popular shape of the Underhill reissue. Also, please don't do a black dip and then paste lighter colors on top like the Underhill. A white dip would have been dope. Like the Welinder is for example. So here is my list:

    McGill:
choice 1 - a proper OG shape and color snakeskin bottlenose like these colors:

    image

Hawk. I personally would love to see this done:
    image

People really want a proper claw reissue:
    image

Guerrero Iron Gate. I vote for blue red or white from these:
    image

Cab - Ban This OG shape and colors:
    image

Mountain crest! Again I would vote green or blue. The light blue, not on this picture is awesome!
    image

Mullen - is there anything that hasnt been done yet? I'd ask VCJ to do a new kickass Mullen graphic to go with the chess. That would be awesome! And I would never ever use the new heavy metal PowellPeralta on that new graphic (as well as on any of the new VCJ's graphics)

Then I'd also love to see McGill "Seahorse"; Aquarium and Trigger Fish reissued
And Outside of the Brigade, I would spend my paycheck on this:
    image
    and this:
    image
A red one again, to match the previous red reissue!

    Thanks for asking :)
