@wake, if I ever get around to getting these at less than $400 I'd be lucky. Which means that I won't buy more than one or two per year. The irony with my life is that if I go bankrupt and have to sell them noone would want them as the hype will have passed.
I saw the streetfighter deck on the bay. It went for about that much. I still mostly dream of the hieroglyphics one and the guerrero timetrip. And those are few and far between. I bid $500 on a mint blue Hyroglyph in August and they still outbid me. And the guerrero went for nearly a K.
Largest personal 90's collection is on display at Bills Wheels. Go & check them.. Ill be doing that myself in Jan. Many of you who frequent snb should know Joe & his unbeatable collection.
Just snapped off the top part of my Enjoi deck's tail at the park today. I went to the park for the first time in a year and a half to find that I didn't improve since last time, and also got fatter. Apparently I need to rethink this parking lot only stuff. The only good part was that it was early in the AM and there were a couple of puddles, so it was totally empty for the entire hour and a half I was there.
Since I want to get back on an old-school setup, I have been staying by my Ebay, and finally found a pretty good deal-- a 1989 Nicky Guerrero "Mask" complete with Six-tracks and Mini Rats for a little under $200. I am going to switch out the Mini Rats for Bombers or Rat bones and use it as my main setup. This is my chance to test unscientifically how long real PP wood from back in the day lasts, vs. reissues. Will post pics and results.
@ghostbusters I totally relate to what you are saying. I get the skatepark itch about once a month, so I go and realize that I am too old and too fat. So I just pump and carve the bowls, throw in some slash grinds, 50-50s, etc.. and just have fun. I don't think I have mastered a new trick in forever. I am trying to maintain my bag of tricks. I usually have more fun cruising the neighborhood and doing bonelesses on banked driveways.
Yeah, I'm not about parks so much. I skate mostly at this one parking lot where they haven't thrown me out in years, and this other one across the street where sometimes this dude comes out and mumbles about getting sued and staying off his curbs, and then I don't skate there for a few days.
Update-- the Mask setup came but it was all messed up-- cut and carved up. The ad said it had been "shaved a little on the sides" or something, but it was cut up so bad-- probably 3" off the length and the thing was maybe 7" across the middle. It was a Mini to begin with, too. So, I took it apart and resold the deck on Ebay.
Coming home from errands today, my Enjoi deck got run over by a car because I let it drift out behind me when I was trying to put a coat on a chair. It came flying at me so fast! Totally undamaged though, except the tail which was thrashed anyway.
Picked this up on Ebay when I was still prematurely psyched about OG durability-- probably won't be skating it due to recent experiences. It's on display now; I'll eventually cannibalize the parts (Trackers/ original Rat Bones) and keep the deck in storage with the others-- no way I'm going to break out my Ken Fillion now, either. Here it is, though;

Getting closer to a little less colourful madness. But still far
Sorry about the terrible shot.
