Reshaping wheels

Just wondering, say you have a set of great wheels but they are coned out and become different in diameter, can they be reshaped?

  • probably if u dont have a life
  • Nasty. Just thought about recycling some old T Bones bb
  • probably going to have to use a knife or something since that is how they are cut
  • You need a wheel lathe.

I was thinking of having the wheel on a truck, being turned by a bench grinder, then something course like a file to shape it whilst the wheel is spinning

You just want a flat bastard to fling off into my eye @Kyle!
I just checked, the smallest coned out diameter is 55mm. I reckon they would make a rad asymmetric street wheel!
  • Whatever you do, it should involve beer, danger, and fun. Well, the beer and danger should make it fun.
  • My brother tried doing it back in the day and just ended up making a huge mess, lol
  • Like Mall grabber said, you need a lathe. A file probably would not work. it would just clog up the file. We grind polyurethane at work and it has to be done wet as to keep the grinding belts clean or they just clog up with urethane dust. Not saying it can't be done your way, it would just be a huge pain in the ass.
  • @WakeInFright ! Totally doable! Did it 3 times on my tbones! Lathe as everyone says is the answer. They can also change the shap if u want. Not just size.
  • Wood lathe, metal lathe? Wheel lathe? Who would have a wheel lathe?
  • I bet @gap would have one
  • I've never actually heard of a wheel lathe, but this is the scenario at the Skate 1 factory that played in my head:

Skate 1 employee: King George sir, is there an easy way to reshape a used wheel?

George P: You need a wheel lathe.

Skate 1 employee: Uhh, a wheel lathe? I've never heard of that. Is there such a thing?

George P: No, but I'm going to go invent one right now.
  • SK8ER: Where are those damn SSF wheels?

    George P: Coming soon!
  • Forum: When is sooner?

George P: Earlier than later. They're on the same schedule as the asymmetrics.
  • They have wheel lathes for train wheels...gets rid of flat spots. Not going there though
  • Forum: No, seriously, when are they coming?

    George P: Soon enough.

    Forum: That's not soon enough!
  • George P: You guys are the ones who have waited over ten years for the bottle nose McGill, the SSF wheels won't take that long!

    Forum: Okay
  • Metal one Wake!
  • GAP passing the dutchie to the left hand side with VCJ, Stecyk and Stacy....
GAP: Then I told them the SSF wheels won't be much longer...cough, cough, chuckle!
Stecyk: (taking another swig of tequila and biting into worm) Of course the wheels won't be much longer....they are round, like the space time continuum of Zalbareth. Maybe wider, that's always a possibility. Everything is possible when impossibility is bent into the letter "s" and dusted off. Hey Vern, want half this worm?(wagging his tongue at VCJ with half the worm bouncing up and down)
Stacy: Maybe I can come down with my handycam...pump them up a bit?
VCJ: Condom nosed snakeskin, SSF wheels,...it's time for a new fugazi! What do you guys reckon.....9th series Tony Brigade, Tony through the ages...
Og pig, chicken skull pig, chicken skull bottle nose, claw, street hawk, medallion and picto!
    All: YEAH! Picto!
  • GAP: I know you guys are looking forward to many different reissues, don't worry they are all coming soon!

Forum: Yeah! George said they are coming soon!
  • Here are the skate wheels they use the train wheel lathes for

Oh, and I want to see Wake's above scene in one of Stacy's documentaries!
