Wheel graphic durability

On wheels from my heyday of late 80s/early 90s, graphics often lasted the entire life of the wheel. Chips and scratches, sure... but they stayed.

These days it seems like the graphic falls off very quickly.

When did this durability change happen, and why?
Anyone know the right answer?

I see that, but I've had graphics on brand new wheels start flaking off in my hand while setting them up.

Bones and Spitfire have both been guilty of limited graphic durability for me. The ones that flaked off in hand on day 1 were Bones ATF's.

well spitfire is slowly transitioning their move to mexico and maybe the paint wasnt fully dry or something but if it bothers u alot then maybe u can exchange them for ones that dont

Bombers hold up pretty well, at least the colors if not the printing.
