  13. Powell Peralta Skateboard Skeleton Midweight Crewneck Sweatshirt - Gunmetal Heather

Powell Peralta Skateboard Skeleton Midweight Crewneck Sweatshirt - Gunmetal Heather

    About the Skateboarding Skeleton Artwork:

In 1977, artist VCJ illustrated two black-and-white posters to promote Bones wheels. About a year later, Court sat down to work on a new project that would turn that Bones theme into the concept of a skateboarding skeleton. To help Court make the image as realistic as possible, George bought a life-sized skeleton from a medical supply shop. Court named her Rosie. After several hours of propping and rigging, Rosie hung frozen in the position of a skateboarding skeleton. Court got to work. His piece, completed near the end of 1978, served as a Bones sticker and T-shirt graphic, the first illustration created under the new Powell Peralta brand.

  17. Powell Peralta Rat Bones Mid Weight Hooded Sweatshirt - Navy Heather

Powell Peralta Rat Bones Mid Weight Hooded Sweatshirt - Navy Heather

About the Vato Rat Bones Artwork:

The Vato Rat was created by artist Craig Stecyk. Coming from the Santa Monica Dogtown "Z-Boy" surf-skate scene of the 1970's, Stecyk was surrounded by Hispanic gang culture and graffiti. At the time he was airbrushing a lot of Zephyr surfboards and blended that influence into his work. The Vato Rat was one of the many symbols he used to decorate surfboards and generally mark territory at local surf spots. In 1983 Stacy Peralta decided to bring the Vato Rat back as a Powell-Peralta graphic. They called it "Rat Bones" and it was used in advertising, on decks, stickers and T-shirts.

Powell Peralta Ripper Hooded Sweatshirt mid Weight Charcoal Heather

    About the Ripper Artwork:

Arguably the most iconic skateboard graphic of all time, "The Ripper" was illustrated in 1983 by legendary Powell-Peralta artist V.C. Johnson. Originally the graphic was used as a "Bones Sold Here" dealer window sticker. Next, the artwork found it's way onto t-shirts and eventually decks. The Ripper graphic has stood the test of time and has been a staple of the Powell-Peralta line for over 30 years.

  30. Powell Peralta Sk8Board Skeleton Hooded Sweatshirt Mid Weight Alpine Green

Powell Peralta Sk8Board Skeleton Hooded Sweatshirt Mid Weight Alpine Green

  31. Powell Peralta Anderson Skull Hooded Sweathshirt Light Yellow

Powell Peralta Anderson Skull Hooded Sweathshirt Light Yellow

“There are so many within the skateboarding world who look at skating as a religion which must be practiced to exacting and specific standards; you must conform and ride this type of terrain, you must conform and do these types of tricks, you must not mix this style with that style, you must look this way or else etc. And then once in a while a skater like Andy comes along who doesn’t fit into this fanatical mold, a skater who is such an outsider himself that he doesn’t even fit into skateboarding. He doesn’t fit in because he’s not following it’s false mandates. What Andy is doing is living the creed of what a skateboarder is supposed to be. He’s not conforming nor is he looking for acceptance from conforming, and with that he’s accepting the grief and exclusion that comes with being a true outsider. That is what a real skateboarder is.” -Stacy Peralta
