Most of my skating is in one of the concrete parks around me. Most of the time I use SPF or STF. Formula 4 101 is as soft as I go. I am interested in these Mini Logo wheels for one of my setups, but I'll never use that one at the park.
The range of options available has allowed me to become super goldilocks about what wheels I skate where, and I also mostly only skate the very hard wheels at the park. For big bowl it's 84b SPF's all the time. I mostly skate the test set of 95a Bones DTF prototypes at home because my driveway is either very rough, brush-finished concrete or craggy asphalt.
Where I live the sidewalks are rough and the majority of the bowls I skate are cracked or have so many layers of paint that anything over 97a make for a rough or slippery ride. I also don’t like the feel of anything over 97a.
I have 4 setups, obviously a decadence that I couldn’t afford as a kid. A cruiser with 85a bombers, then three park boards varying from 98a up to 84b spf depending on roughness, and I could possibly cut that down to two park boards!
Several decks that I thought were made in the USA at SkateOne now have this statement:
"Made with our partner in Mexico. Materials include U.S. hard rock maple and glue that meets our specifications, warranted against delamination for their useful life. Shape and graphics created in Santa Barbara, CA."
The photos of the green Hill that are posted on skate one.com look way better than the mockup in the add above. The top features a multi colored winged bulldog.
